The Grammar School was demolished in 1964 and the site became the location for a new library replacing the older building on the junction of St Thomas Green and Winch Lane. Ironically the 'new' library has been abandoned for several years aqnd now lies moribund as the County Council search for a new use for the site.

If you stand in Dew Street it is easy to establish it was because although the Grammar School and FishMarket have been demolished other building including St Mary's Church remain.

It was the loss of the Grammar School and Fishmarket together with other notable buildings such as the Swan Hotel that provided the impetus for the creation of the Haverfordwest Civic Society.
