For generations the Parade was the place for people to promenade during their leisure time while younger couples might very well carry out their courtship but it was not until the mid-1930's that the site took on it's present form when the old Borough Council decided to take on the construction of the bowling green and two tennis courts. The original plans had been drawn up by the Haverfordwest & District Recreation Company but when the Comapny ran out of money the took over the scheme; two further tennis courts were added after the Second World War.
