The Castle

Situated in a commanding position high above the River Cleddau Haverfordwest Castle has survived uprisings by the Welsh and the Civil War to remain the most imposing landmark of the town.

Although the first castle was built during the Norman period the building as we see it today was the work of the Plantagenet Queen Eleanor, wife of Edward the First and dates to 1290.
