Built in 1791 the fish and butter market served Haverfordwest 150 years but was demolished in 1951. Although it looks as though it was constructed with dressed stone it was actually a cheaper rubble construction with rendered walls.
By the beginning of the 20th century the ground floor was a municipal dairy and the upper floor with its high ceiling was used to store council records. During the Second World War it was used to billet troops after which it remained empty until it was demolished.
